Estimator/Planner

The Estimator prepares cost estimates for Sheetfed and Wide Format printing jobs by determining the most economical method of manufacture and considering production capacity of man and machines.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Based on specifications from Sales Reps and CSR’s, estimates the cost of materials by determining the quantity of paper, ink and plates required then adding in a suitable margin for spoilage; estimates the cost of processing in the Press, Bindery, and Prepress departments by estimating the amount of time required in each department and multiplying by predetermined standard cost figures. Combines the cost of materials and the cost of machine time plus a suitable margin of error.
  • Determines the production centers needed to produce the job as specified. Develops a plan to accommodate all facets of the job. Evaluates all methods available for producing the job and selects the plan which produces the job in the most economical way.
  • Uses job cost sheets to establish price for finished jobs where quotations were not required.
  • Works with vendors in obtaining best prices for supplies and with Sales Reps and CSR’s in giving customer suggestions for improving quality and/or lowering the price of jobs.
  • Uses computer to prepare estimates.
  • Maintains vendor price lists and discount terms and allowances. Develops knowledge of materials used, the best suppliers and competitive prices. Keeps aware of price changes and competitive prices.
  • Researches and recommends cost savings potential to management.
  • Advises and guides customers when necessary as to specifications of a job (size or style of type, size of book, kind of binding, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Works overtime when needed.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • College degree in Graphic Design, Accounting or Business Administration and or equivalent experience.
  • Complete knowledge of cost accounting, all printing processes, paper, ink, computer operation, the competitive market, and purchasing.
  • Ability to deal with in-plant supervisors.
  • Must know all printing equipment available and equipment’s’ respective running speeds and most efficient methods for producing any possible job and all types and grades of paper, plus working knowledge of paper pricing.
  • Must be able to compute standard costs when the desired figures are not available; determine the quantity of paper, ink, and plates required to complete each job; estimate the amount of manpower time to be expended in each job.
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for taking in incoming jobs from the sales staff and becomes the key person processing these jobs. This person will organize and review each job thoroughly and carefully, compare the job to the corresponding estimate, prepare the project for the production provide in-house support for the sales force whenever a customer has a question or requires information, and should maintain open lines of communication between customers, sales, and the plant on all jobs-in-progress.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive job from Sales Rep, Lead, or customer. Compare with estimate and discuss any differences.
  • Tracks job through production and communicate any problems and changes to plant personnel, Sales Reps and customers.
  • Keeps accurate records on all jobs and customer contacts, so both company and customer are protected should questions arise later.
  • Verify orders for compatibility, suitability, and prevention of potential manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure client priorities are met by proactively managing orders and providing accurate and timely follow up on all client requests.
  • Actively support the customer service team in advancing the quality and service capabilities of the department.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience working in print production environments, specializing in print & kitting/fulfillment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Detailed track record of successful supplier management, negotiation, and procurement of complex print/kitting projects.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Well organized.
  • Ability to work with little to no direction or supervision, and to be a collaborative team player.
  • Meticulous in day to day activities.
  • Ability to clearly verbalize complications and potential resolutions or escalations.
  • Adaptability to change.
  • Must be thorough and detail oriented.
  • Good time management, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and manage stress.
Digital Print Operator

The Digital Print Operator is responsible for all aspects of operating large format digital printing equipment to Imagine Express’ production and quality standards, within budget and on time. Daily activity will include material handling and finishing as assigned.

SHIFT:  6pm – 6am, rotating

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates Equipment
  • Understands and follows work order direction. Questions to the point of clarity, as necessary.
  • Produces product to spec, within budget, and in expected timeframe.
  • Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer and Imagine Express standards on various substrates, within quality expectations, in a safe manner.
  • Accounts for material consumed on job by job basis
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance functions to insure optimal printing conditions.
  • Monitors output quality throughout whole course of a run.
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • Follows all safety protocols.
  • Assists other print operators in material handling as necessary.
  • Deals with customers and clients in a professional and polite manner as needed.
  • Works overtime when needed.
  • Performs other tasks as required.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Mac and Windows Operating Systems
  • Must possess high mechanical aptitude
  • Good written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow and document procedures
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions and set up printers to carry out the jobs
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Thorough knowledge of print operations and functions
  • Problem-solving ability on printer operations.
Variable Data Processor

The Variable Data Programmer will perform data manipulations, address cleansing, postal presorting, and variable data processing.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing of Variable Data
  • Preflighting
  • Prepress (When needed)
  • Lettershop Inkjet Operator (When needed)

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Vocational/technical school or college degree in electronic prepress and/or equivalent experience.
  • Five years’ experience in an electronic pre-press environment.
  • Experience with Fusion Pro and BCC Mail Manager
  • Extensive knowledge of Photoshop CC including: Color, high end model retouching.
  • Knowledge of mailing standards/guidelines
  • Sheet Fed Offset experience preferred
  • Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated skills in all production processes related to electronic pre-press activities, including software, hardware, equipment, and materials.
  • Esko Automation Suite and Metrix software knowledge a plus
  • Ability to read planning layouts and produce imposed files.
  • Ability to work on complex jobs in a fast paced, quality focused environment.
  • Ability to use problem-solving skills in producing jobs effectively.
Quality/Kitting Supervisor

The Quality/Kitting Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and efficient functioning of all quality, kitting and packaging related activities.

SHIFT:  Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages work flow to achieve manufacturing goals.
  • Assures the overall quality of the products being shipped and oversees in-process inspections and verifications
  • Makes hiring, wage, promotion and termination recommendations; completes staff evaluations and general employee relations.
  • Ensures the safety of department personnel and for assuring compliance with all safety procedures
  • Interacts with scheduling, customer service, planning and press to assure availability of printed materials to meet delivery requirements
  • Demonstrated skills in some of the following areas:
  • Reading job tickets
  • Hand collating and inserting
  • Packaging and finishing
  • Company quality requirements
  • Basic job layouts and applications
  • Responsible for determining the most efficient way that a job should be prepared
  • Ability to work together with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
  • Works overtime when needed
  • Performs other duties as requested

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Vocational/technical degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Front-line supervision experience plus technical and interpersonal skills highly desired
