Estimator - Temporary

The Estimator prepares cost estimates for Sheetfed and Wide Format printing jobs by determining the most economical method of manufacturing.

This is a temporary, full-time position; minimum 3 month assignment with potential to extend further.  Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)   Based on specifications from Sales Reps and CSR’s, estimates the cost of materials by determining the quantity of paper, ink and plates required.

2)   Determines the production centers needed to produce the job as specified. Develops a plan to accommodate all facets of the job. Evaluates all methods available for producing the job and selects the plan which produces the job in the most economical way.

5)   Uses ERP system to prepare estimates.

6)   Develops knowledge of materials used, the best suppliers and competitive prices.

8)   Advises and guides customers when necessary as to specifications of a job (size or style of type, size of book, kind of binding, etc.)

9)   Performs other duties as requested.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Previous experience estimating offset and wide format printing jobs.
  • Experience working within an ERP system.
  • Must have a working knowledge of offset and wide format printing processes.
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.

 

Shipping/Receiving Assistant

The Shipping/Receiving Assistant assists in all shipping and receiving operations.

SHIFT:  Monday – Friday, 11:00am – 7:30pm

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares all skids and cartons for scheduled shipment including labeling, skid or carton preparation, shipment record keeping, and transfer to carrier.
  • Prepares all skids and cartons for subout deliveries.
  • Attends company meetings as requested where discussions relate to distribution and shipping.
  • Maintains files, guides, directories, and equipment to perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Assures that all work areas are kept clean, neat and orderly.
  • Assists in loading and unloading trucks when necessary.
  • Unload incoming trucks and verify accuracy of receiving documents
  • Responsible for noting any damage on incoming shipments and notifying the proper departments
  • Ensures that receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders
  • Compiles distribution lists and imports into FedEx
  • Assists in resolving any discrepancies
  • Collects all documentation for inbound freight and routes to the proper record keeping unit
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Follow all safety rules/regulations, company procedures and policies
  • Performs other duties as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent reaching, bending and stooping.
  • Frequent standing.
  • Manual dexterity.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions.
  • Extensive knowledge of shipping procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and head them off.
  • Ability to develop new techniques for handling work.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of computer operations.
  • Demonstrate positive safety attitude.
MRP/Sourcing and Procurement Specialist

The MRP/Sourcing and Procurement Specialist is responsible for all purchasing, managing and maintaining the MRP system and sourcing and procurement.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with vendors in obtaining best prices for supplies and with Sales Reps and CSR’s in giving customer suggestions for improving quality and/or lowering the price of jobs.
  • Runs and maintains the MRP system.
  • Sets and maintains stock levels within the ERP system.
  • Creates and maintains items within the ERP system.
  • Maintains vendor price lists and discount terms and allowances. Develops knowledge of materials used, the best suppliers and competitive prices. Keeps aware of price changes and competitive prices.
  • Sources products from overseas when applicable.
  • Verifies and justifies supply/material requisitions and initiates Purchase Orders.
  • Design, recommend and implement systems to improve materials, paper work and work flow.
  • Research and recommend cost saving potentials.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of status, progress and complications of work.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5+ years of MRP experience
  • 5+ years of sourcing and procurement
  • 5+ years of vendor negotiation experience
  • Overseas sourcing knowledge
  • Ability to communicate with in-plant supervisors.
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Print industry knowledge a plus
